What can fertility counselling help with?
Counselling offers space to talk about how fertility difficulties affect you. You might want to discuss uncertainty, a disappointing result or a difference of opinion with your partner. You do not need to have a particular problem prepared before asking for help.
Support for individuals and couples
Some people prefer to speak alone; others want their partner involved. Ask which arrangements are available and how confidentiality works. Counselling can sit alongside medical appointments, with time to discuss feelings that a treatment consultation may not cover.
Does stress mean treatment will fail?
Feeling anxious does not mean you have caused a treatment to fail. The HFEA reports that there is no conclusive evidence that stress affects fertility treatment outcomes. Support is about your wellbeing, rather than a promise of pregnancy.
Arranging support through DYU
Contact the HSR Layout team to discuss the support you need and ask about counselling availability, the professional you would meet and any separate fee. If you have already had treatment, you can also request a medical consultation to review the results.
